What gets taught in public schools? And just how long do those
standardized tests take? This hour, guests join Angie to talk
teachers, testing and the voucher system.
Student and activist Zack Kopplin explains the "creationism wall"
and voucher system used in some schools, recalls his experience
testifying against the spread of vouchers and shares some of his
favorite "facts" being taught in some schools. Teacher and activist
Sabrina Joy Stevens and Gary Ravani, President of the Early Childhood K-12 Council, engage in a panel discussion of
the politics of the classroom, the fairness of testing (on students
AND teachers) and the tie between test scores, poverty and teacher's
unions.
Plus, Angie's demented sidekick Buttercup drops in to sympathize
with a teen who illegally bought a gun and accidentally shot
himself, question Eric Pratt's explanation for Reagan's support of
an assault weapon ban and share Rick Perry's miracle solution to
gun violence.
